1. Overview
Staked ("we," "us," "our") operates the website staked.studio (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
Staked is a commitment platform where users declare a goal, set a deadline, and stake real money. The purpose is personal accountability, not gambling or investment.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into binding agreements to use this Service. By using Staked, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
3. How It Works
Users create a "stake" by declaring a goal, setting a deadline, and committing a monetary amount via Stripe. Stakes are pooled into cohorts. The resolution of each stake determines the payout:
- Completed: You receive your full stake back plus a proportional share of forfeited and closed stakes.
- Closed: You complete a closure ritual and receive 15% of your original stake back.
- Forfeited: If you do not submit a resolution within 72 hours of your deadline, your stake is forfeited. You receive nothing.
4. Payments & Refunds
All payments are processed through Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
Payouts are processed as Stripe refunds after a cohort is resolved. Payout amounts are determined by the resolution status of all stakes within a cohort. Bonus payouts are capped at the original stake amount.
Stakes are non-refundable once placed, except through the resolution process described above. If you abandon the Stripe checkout before completing payment, no stake is created and no charge occurs.
5. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when creating a stake
- Submit honest proof of completion or closure
- Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Not attempt to manipulate or game the system
We reserve the right to review completion submissions and closure rituals. Fraudulent submissions may result in forfeiture and account suspension.
6. One Stake at a Time
Users may only have one active stake at a time. This is enforced by the platform and is a core design principle.
7. Limitation of Liability
Staked is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you staked in the relevant transaction.
8. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If your account is terminated while you have an active stake, we will process the stake according to the standard resolution rules.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email.
